Day 27 - Sunday, February 23 - We head to Les Distilleries Idéales for the Nice Expat meetup, which is unexpectedly large; we meet some new friends; we book out the rest of our Europe Trip; and get our toilet fixed. Cloudy 60°F (15°C)
Jamil awoke today with a bit of a cold. The weather is still cool and cloudy, but at least it isn't raining!
We had delicious Siggi's Skyr for breakfast (Noisette flavor, which I think is hazelnut), along with baguette with butter and jam, and some banana.
Our agenda today had one item: an expat meetup at Les Distilleries Idealista. We had heard this meetup mentioned in a couple of Nice Facebook groups, and thought it would be worth checking out, especially considering how much we enjoyed the one in Montpellier.
We were glad it didn't start until 10:30, as we were a bit slow getting out the door. It's a Sunday, so there aren't too many folks out and about, which is kind of a nice change from the previous day.
This was our first foray into Old Nice, and the narrow alleys are really something.
So iconic it's hard not to snap a photo of every street and alleyway.
Eventually, we arrived at Les Distilleries Idéales. It was PACKED with folks! All there for the meetup. Inside, we barely managed to find a seat, and the meetup spilled out to the surrounding alleyways.
We met quite a few new people, some who've lived in Nice for decades, some for a few years, and some, like us, simply considering the idea. We spent a long time there!
Eventually, we headed back to the apartment, where we ate lunch and had a long nap!
Then we booked the last part of the trip - our hotel in Paris, and the flight from Porto to Paris. We also had an issue with the toilette, which kept running and wouldn't stop. Mark the handyman was great and came right over to fix it. Whew!
